Fox Sports South reported Wednesday that the “All-American” will join veteran sportscaster Wes Durham and Emmy-winning sports reporter Jenn Hildreth to cover Atlantic Coast Conference football.
Stann will kick off his broadcast career on August 31, the first of 17 regular-season ACC games that Fox Sports South will air.
“Brian brings a dynamic and energetic perspective to the booth,” Jeff Genthner, senior vice president and general manager of FOX Sports South and SportSouth, said in a news release.
A former Marine captain who received the prestigious Silver Star for heroism in 2006, Stann got his start in college sports as a linebacker for the Navy football team during his four years at the Naval Academy.

He’s best known now as a mixed martial arts star for UFC, but the 32-year-old athlete wears plenty of other hats as well: he’s the president and CEO of Hire Heroes USA, a nonprofit dedicated to creating job opportunities for veterans. Most recently, Marine Corps Times caught up with him as he promoted High Intensity Tactical Training, a favorite new workout in the Marine Corps.
In a news release, Stann said he was excited to approach a new challenge.
“I am honored and excited for this opportunity with FOX Sports South,” he said. “I am a lifelong fan of college football and feel so fortunate to be a part of ACC football.”
