Last week, while following the coverage of all the unrest in the world after the attacks on U.S. embassies, I came across this map that showed where protests were happening globally.
I was reminded of our Marine Corps Times deployment map, and thought we should illustrate that information the same way.
Every employee here at Marine Corps Times has spent their fair share of time gathering information on where Marines are around the world. But I always thought it was something that would be especially cool if it was digital — something that allowed our readers to interact with the information more.
So here’s our first run at showing where Marines are all over the globe in a digital format. I’m going to work to develop this further, putting photos, videos and story links into the boxes to illustrate what it is Marines are out there doing week-to-week.
If you have suggestions on how we can make it better, we’d love to hear them. We’ll be working on making adjustments to this every week just like we do in the paper. Only in a digital space, we have more freedom to experiment.
Please feel free to email your thoughts or ideas to email@example.com.
