Cpl. Chesty XIII gets his new chevron at Marine Barracks Washington. Cpl. Joseph A. Cabrera/Marine Corps
Former Lance Cpl. Chesty XIII was promoted to the rank of corporal today by Col. Andrew H. Smith, the commanding officer of Marine Barracks Washington, during a ceremony at 8th and I.
Cpl. Chesty XIII is the latest in a long line of English bulldogs that have served as the Marine Corps’ official Mascot. His predecessor, Chesty XII, ascended to the rank of sergeant during six years of service despite a spotty disciplinary record. He retired in July of 2008.

This gave me my smile for the day!
OOH RAH CHESTY!!!
For Chrissake guys, I’m used to the mainstream media not having a clue about the military, but I expect better from a publication called military times. Look at the photo then look at the rank you use to identify the Marine in the caption. Attention to detail. Do we need to send the Gunny to the newsroom?
Guns,
Do you mean the Marine identified as taking the photo?
oops.
When did it become OK to wear a field jacket with Class A’s, B’s, or C’s????!!!!
